ABOUT THE TROCADÉRO, PARIS

The Trocadéro is the esplanade of the Palais de Chaillot, on the Right Bank in the 16th arrondissement, directly across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower. The palace was built for the 1937 International Exposition; the tower, for the Exposition Universelle of 1889. From the terrace between its two wings you see the whole tower head-on, with the Pont d'Iéna and the Champ de Mars behind it. It is busiest at sunset and quietest early in the morning.

The print shows that view in late October: roasted chestnuts on the balustrade, a black Citroën DS parked on the quai, the Seine turned copper in the last light, the tower itself the colour of rust. It suits someone who proposed in Paris, spent a year there, or keeps promising to go back. Giclée-printed on Hahnemühle German Etching, available unframed, on canvas or framed, delivered free.
