ABOUT GSTAAD
Gstaad is a village in the Saanenland, in the Bernese Oberland, in the west of the Swiss canton of Bern. Its main street is a car-free promenade of wooden chalets, shops and cafés, and the Gstaad Palace, opened in 1913, stands on the hill above it. The resort is known for its quiet: low-rise chalets, sleigh rides and long winter walks as much as skiing. The weeks before Christmas, when the promenade is strung with garlands and lights, are the most festive time to be there.
The print is set a week before Christmas: a man with a fir tree on his shoulder, a woman with her arms full of gifts, garlands on every balcony, the Palace lit on the hill. It suits a family that spends Christmas in the mountains, or someone who would like to. Giclée-printed on Hahnemühle German Etching, available unframed, on canvas or framed, delivered free.
