ABOUT CHAMONIX
Chamonix-Mont-Blanc is a town in Haute-Savoie, France, in the valley beneath Mont Blanc, the highest summit in the Alps. The mountain was first climbed from here in 1786 by Jacques Balmat and Michel-Gabriel Paccard, and in 1924 the town hosted the first Winter Olympics. The River Arve runs through the centre, and a cable car climbs from the town to the Aiguille du Midi, the start of the Vallée Blanche off-piste descent. It is a climbing town in summer and a skiing town in winter.
The print shows the town at the end of the day: a man with a rope over his shoulder on the bridge, the Arve running blue beneath, the Aiguille du Midi catching the last light. It suits a climber, someone who has skied the Vallée Blanche, or anyone who keeps a photograph of Mont Blanc on the fridge. Giclée-printed on Hahnemühle German Etching, available unframed, on canvas or framed, delivered free.
