ABOUT HYDRA
Hydra is a Saronic island off the coast of the Peloponnese, Greece, a short ferry ride from Piraeus. Cars and motorbikes are not allowed: people and goods move on foot, by donkey or by water taxi. The town wraps around a horseshoe harbour lined with the stone mansions of 18th- and 19th-century sea captains. Painters and writers have long been drawn to it; Leonard Cohen bought a house on the island in 1960. Spring and early autumn are the best months to visit.
The print is the harbour in its quiet hour: stone, sea, and wooden boats knocking softly at their moorings. It suits someone who has found their island and goes back every year, a writer, or anyone who needs a reminder of a place without engines. Giclée-printed on Hahnemühle German Etching, available unframed, on canvas or framed, delivered free.
